Coffee in the form of Iced Caramel Lattes, good music, a planned reward to celebrate finishing, studying something that has eternal significance, food to fill the tummy and fuel the mind during last minute cramming, great friends for encouragement and much needed breaks (not the TV show this time!)… all served with a side of procrastination!

See you on the other side!

In My Makeup Bag

Here’s a sneak peek of what my weekend looked like: Makeover after Makeover after Makeover (x5). It was so. much. fun.

The way you look can quickly affect your confidence and how you feel in that moment. I love using the wide assortment of Mary Kay products to make people look, feel, and BE beautiful! Of course, it’s about more than the makeup… I love that MK pushes the lifestyle with God first, Family second, and career last!

Check out just one look Mary Kay products can create:

Prior to using any products… only acne present here 😉 No shame.

20130410-DSC_3367The first two steps, used every morning and every night, work together.

Would you believe the Time Wise 3-in-1 cleanser and moisturizer work together to do ELEVEN things? Cleanse, exfoliate, freshen, energize, hydrate, smooth, firm, soften, protect, rebuild, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It rightfully won the Good Housekeeping Stamp and is one of our best sellers!!20130410-DSC_3375Concealer always come next, I love that it is lightweight yet long lasting. It also is great that there are so many shades to choose from; something for every face. It helps conceal imperfections such as blemishes, age spots, and under eye circles to create a beautiful flawless face.20130410-DSC_3373I follow it up with Mineral Powder for a natural, matte finish. I love that it gives build-able coverage. This is crazily comparable to Bare Minerals, with a much better price tag!! (Think $28 compared to $16)!!! 20130410-DSC_3335

Can’t forget the blush— gotta have the perfect luminous flush on the cheeks. It makes ya look more alive!

20130410-DSC_337620130410-DSC_3339 20130410-DSC_3340 For the eyes, I start by using “Moonstone” mineral eye shadow all over the eyelid; from the lashes all the way to the brow.

I love to even extend some of this light, all over color around your tear duct… It adds a dewy accent & really makes the eyes look wide awake and pop!

Then, the crease needs some “Chocolate Kiss” to be happy- oh wait, thats us girls once a month 😉20130410-DSC_3343

This deep brown gives depth and warmth to the lids.20130410-DSC_3347 20130410-DSC_3349Finally, when I’m feeling it, I add “Sweet Plum”. It looks like a very deep purple in the tray but adds the perfect accent. 20130410-DSC_3351 20130410-DSC_3350

Black eyeliner and Black “Lash Love” mascara unarguably finish out every eye look! (Can I get an amen?!)

Mary Kay’s eyeliner is long wearing, fade resistant, smudge proof, and waterproof. What more can you ask for?

Are you constantly looking for the perfect mascara to wear everyday? I’ve found what you NEED! The secret is a flexible, sculpted brush that separates and coats even fine, hard to reach lashes, with no clumps!!- That is important to me.

20130410-DSC_3392My final step… True Dimensions Lipstick in Natural Beaute’.

I’ve fallen in love with this formula for lipstick. I am not a big lipstick girl… it is always SO drying and I can’t wear without gloss..  MK has finally helped me find this all day, everyday color, that’s moisturizing! It wouldn’t look out of the ordinary with workout clothes but still looks gorgeous with a dress on date night!

It’s becoming a problem… I sell this constantly! I can’t even keep it on the shelf!20130410-DSC_3355The finished face!

20130410-DSC_3357Winning outfit, huh?

As always, a HUGE thanks to JML photography for the product and step by step photos. If you’re in need of any photography (products, family, wedding, maternity) call this dude. He’s kinda awesome.

I hope your weekend was full of relaxation~ I know mine was.

Thanks for reading!

“nothing else even comes close”

“I’m going to need a full set.”

“Acrylic, please!”

If this sounds like your trips to the nail salon, I know you natural nails are in need of some rescuing. I used acrylic nails for years even though I knew they tore my natural nails to pieces. When I would finally remove them, I knew I would have to baby them for months before they were actually strong nails again. The acrylic was gone, but I was left with soft brittle nails that would practically split in half when I attempted to open a ziploc.

I have, after years of searching, found the remedy! Thanks to my roommate on this one… She is the nail queen.

Formula 2 by nailitiques. Their company tagline is “nothing else even comes close” and that could not be more true. It does cost a pretty penny, but I’m telling you, it is a miracle in a bottle. Totally worth the splurge!

They claim their formulas were created to treat different nail conditions. The salon-tested formulations offer special combinations of ingredients, including hydrolyzed keratin and protein in combination with gelatin and calcium to build a healthy nail foundation. The protein formulas bond the nail layers together building a strong nail foundation resistant to peeling, chipping and splitting.

Nails will see marked improvement when treated with Formula 2. This formula consists of a unique blend of protein and conditioners. The protein immediately acts to help bond nails that are splitting or peeling. Formula 2 helps strengthen the nail resulting in long, strong and healthy nails.

One of my favorite products ever- and if that isn’t enough… It is one of InStyle’s Best Beauty Buys!

Pick some up at your local Walgreens or CVS! I’ve already talked my Mom out of the artificial habit- YOU should be next!

Early Mornings

Ever wake up before the sun?

I know… it stinks, you’re tired, your eyes won’t open, it is cold, you can’t even see… just. one. more. minute. I almost always beg.

When I fight the urge to stay under the abundance of fluffy white linens, I end up thanking myself God for it.

My ideal morning has me arising in the darkness, quietly tip toe ing around the house to get just ready enough, grabbing every belonging in my house it seems and heading across town to a coffeehouse. My living room will work too, but that never requires more than PJs which means my eyes are more likely to assume they can slack off on the job.

Preferably, Starbucks would not be my destination, although it absolutely suffices.

For early, quiet mornings, it has got to be the town’s best kept secret… A “hipster” atmosphere makes it that much better.

I have fallen in love with the ease of parking with only 3 other cars in the lot… the way the barista’s whisper before 9 am.. the clicking of the keyboard or turning of old wrinkled pages.. the way my pen runs across a blank page… the promise of new mercies, not yet tainted… It’s warms my soul. It is when I start my day early, in communication with my great God (in all truth, coffee is of no importance) that my storm of a day is less tragic. I am aware of my fresh start, that my sins of yesterday are forgiven, thrown to the side. For this, I keep coming back for more.

Starkville’s newest addition called 929… hits my idea of morning perfection on the head. It is located on Main Street, adding to the unmatchable atmosphere. You use unmatching mugs and check out at a counter made of old wood, beautifully battered. I just love their details.

I’d relate the hours of say 6-9 am to the calm before the storm. You can check your email, but there will hardly ever be more than the 3 am LOFT, Banana Republic, and Coach sale notifications. No teachers asking for homework assignments, yet. But when I close my Bible, leave that place, get in my car, and venture out into the world, onto campus, wherever my day takes me, I will never be in the same state I was in, until tomorrow morning.

I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in a few days.. I have been itching to, but completely indulging in relaxation while in Virginia… Little to no cell phone/MacBook use was heavenly!!
Here I am again, and I have many blogging ideas on my mind (they are always popping up!) but some advise I received told me not to be so “advice-y” .. “punny”, I know! So I decided to on this one I will just share my life, or at least the last few days of it- enjoy!

Friday: My Mom took Mitchell, Madeline, and I to the MEM Airport for our flight to Virginia. Lenny’s in tow, we were ready for a 1.5 hour flight, a 2 hr layover, and another almost 2 hour flight!

Thanks Momma!

The 3 of us 🙂

Our not so friendly friend. Due to his “preference of an aisle seat to sleep in the entire flight, I sat all alone. If he was a frequent bathroom user, I might have understood his choice, but he was not, and I do not. (It’s probably illegal to post other people’s pictures online… hopefully he doesn’t read random teenagers blogs!)
Finally- We reached VA (and Matt, Mrs. Brenda, and LB!!) at about Midnight. An hours worth of driving later we made it to the house- woo hoo!! Been looking forward to this for months.
Saturday: We were able to sleep in before meeting Brenda for Mexican and meeting some sweet people at her work! Once we returned home, the day was filled with holiday activities! Everything from dipping pretzel rods (think- burned chocolate x 3), gingerbread people, and fresh baked cookies!

After having a delicious family dinner, we decided to open presents!! I was spoiled beyond belief with Michael Kors, a new ring, Toms wedges, and more from Mitchell on top of Uggs, Hot Sox, Gift Cards, a facial/massage day, and Date Night from Brenda and Matt- whew!!
Never imagined- that boy knows me!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!

My favorite part was getting to give M his big gift– 26′ Vizio for his dorm room next year! He adored that thing & I heard over and over, “Hey! Ya’ll know I got a TV?!” Precious.

Almost as precious as this pic. Just love him!

Sunday: Sadly, about 2 am M woke me up telling me he had thrown up 😦 So sad, we got him a drink and went back to bed, thinking it was a one time thing. Little did we know, it was the beginning a a 24 hour stomach bug (+ 24 for me, + 24 for madeline). Luckily, he toughed it out enough for a full day of shopping! Don’t worry, we took lots of breaks- He’s a trooper!! We headed to Pop’s Diner for dinner, but were sad to see they were only open for brunch on Sundays!! Back to the house for pizza and lots of rest!!
Monday: We had big plans- Panera Bread (Grand Opening!), Ice Skating, and Dominic’s. Ahhh… To bad we are as slow as Christmas when getting ready and ended up skipping Panera and going straight for skating! Exited to report I didn’t fall even once!! I went in with the worst expectations… Madeline and M agreed when saying “You’re definetely gonna fall, a bunch.”

So happy to spend Christmas with you!!
Lucky to have a guy who never fails to treat me like a princess!
After skating, we were starving!! & there is no better lunch spot in VA than Dominic’s. The absolute best chain of the World Famous Philly Cheese Steak. Ahhh.. unexplainable!! I wish I had a picture for you, but even a thousand words wouldn’t do this baby justice!!
Back at the house, we were ready to be pampered!! Facials and Massages all around- best Christmas gift everrr!
We ended the night with Water for Elephants (definitely recommend!!), double chocolate chunk cookies, and a bonfire just me and M 🙂

Tuesday: Unexpected wakeup call at 7:30 am… the need to throw up!!! TMI- I know. I spent the whole day in bed, barely moving a muscle. A cancelled nail appointment, 8 saltines, 3 bites of applesauce, 4 sierra mists, and 36 hours later, I was stomach bug free- FINALLY! I have never had a day like that in my life!!! YUCK!! And Poor Madeline got it after me.
Wednesday: Time for me to head home on my first flight alone!! We got up in time to pack, have lunch at Baker Street with Brenda, shop together in Newport News, and read/drink coffee at Barnes and Noble. Sad to go, but excited to see my momma/daddy/matt/j/etc & ready to have M back in Collierville! (3 days!!!)

If I don’t see you/blog before Sunday, Merry Christmas!! Don’t forget the reason for the season. Jesus Christ, born of a virgin Mary, to save us.

P.S. I apologize for picture overload!! “This is my life!” See —>

I am officially on Thanksgiving Break. Hallelujah!! & Hellooo 11 days in “the ville.” I can hardly contain my excitement.

My plans while away from school include lots of R & R, Christmas Shopping, babysitting, running/exercising, BLOGGING and lots of family time & of course— the food!

I am heading home tomorrow only to road trip right back to Starkville, MS Friday afternoon with M for my sorority formal. It is guaranteed to be a fun night with M & all my sister!
Saturday = Mitchell’s 18th Birthday!! WOW! Our plans as of right now include driving back to Collierville and maybe the UFC fights?… We’ll see what the birthday boy is feeling!

Wishing everyone safe travels & a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude… with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.
